My journey into birthwork was first ignited when I found out I was pregnant in 2013. I learned everything I needed to know to have an empowering birth – – and I DID IT!! This passion has since transformed into a career of empowering, supporting and educating women to have their best birth, in a system that is designed to create fear around what is traditionally a woman-centered, powerful transition into the next season of life.
I believe that
- Birth is normal.
- Birth is safe.
- Birth is a beautiful well kept secret, if you let it remain one.
It is not:
- Pathological
- Scary
- Or dangerous
With two homebirth experiences and supporting births for several years, I know that I have the wisdom to support you and your family through your journey preparing for your empowering experience.
OUR STORY
In 2013, when I found out I was pregnant with my first baby, I had no idea what this experience would do to me. I was opened up to a whole new world of birth information that would eventually lead to a burning passion so deep that it became how I support my family. I had such an enlightening experience with the birth of my son that I so deeply wanted to pass this information to all women so they can know bliss like I had experienced.
I began supporting births in 2016, registered for a Doula Certification program in 2017, and had my second baby in 2018 at 42 weeks and 5 days. My daughter’s birth further solidified my path in this work because I never wanted any woman to feel as defeated as I felt. It is no easy feat to continuously advocate for your birth, something that is our designed basic rite of passage.
I always continued learning as there was a fire of curiosity that continued to burn and I delved further into the world of birth and have since grown with deeper experiences, knowledge, and greater perspective.
My belief has shifted so deeply to a place to fully trust the ability of a woman to know and trust her body. Women should be the leaders of their birth, and those who are honoured to witness should stand back and watch her graciously transcend between dimensions as she is whisked away into labor land to be able to travel through this beautiful experience.
With me by your side, you can rest assured that I will be your biggest supporter in reminding you that you are your authority and no one knows better than you.
From all the knowledge I have gained, I have recently pivoted in this industry and have been accepted into Billie Harrigan’s Traditional Birth Companion’s program beginning January 2023.
